Eco2 CEO wins Welsh entrepreneurial leadership award

David Williams and eight other finalists have been named as the leaders in Wales at the 2012 Leading Wales Awards ceremony held today at the Hilton Cardiff. The ceremony was hosted by Real Radio Wales presenter, Jason Harrold.

The winners were; Leslie Barr from Ebbw-Vale based Monwel Signs (Team Leader), Hazel Jukes, Powys County Council (Public Sector), David Williams, Chief Executive of Eco2 (Real Life Entrepreneurial Leadership Private Sector), Angela Hughes, Wales Air Ambulance (Voluntary / Not for Profit), Paul Nagle, TABS Training (Social Enterprise), Rhys Williams from GReW (Young Leader), Sharon Jones, Chief Executive of Crest Co-operative (Women in Leadership) and Dr. Charlotte Morgans from South Wales Police (Leading Leadership Skills Development).

Now in its eight year, the Leading Wales Awards, in association with Real Radio Wales, are the prestigious pan-Wales awards that champion good leadership in Wales by identifying, recognising and celebrating individuals, who through their leadership contribute to the prosperity of Wales.

Chair of the Leading Wales Awards Consortium, Barbara Chidgey, said; “We are in awe of the very individual leadership roles that so many people fulfil and are privileged to learn about the difference their leadership is making in their community, team, organisation or business. All the winners and finalists are leaders making a real difference in Wales and they truly deserve their recognition today.”

The awards are made up of eight categories that span the public, private, voluntary / not-for-profit and social enterprise sectors. The awards also recognise individual leadership through the cross-sectoral categories including Women in Leadership, Leading Leadership Skills Development, Team Leader and Young Leader (14 - 25 year olds). This year saw the largest number of finalists – 27 in total.

The Leading Wales Awards is driven forward by a consortium of organisations that passionately believe that good leadership is the key driver to economic success in Wales. The members are: ACCA Wales, CBI Wales, CMI Cymru, Harding Evans Solicitors, Hilton Cardiff, Learning Pathways Cymru and Wales Council for Voluntary Action.
