The first Wind Farm which Eco2 developed has been operating since 2007. The Wind Farm, located near Huntly in North Aberdeenshire, has an installed capacity of 12.25 MW comprising of seven Vestas V66 machines.
Planning consent was granted in 2006 by the Scottish Ministers following a successful planning appeal. Eco2 managed the procurement of the Balance of Plant Contracts, and the Turbine Supply and Operations and Maintenance Agreements with Vestas. Scottish Power signed a 15 year power purchase agreement for the output and ROCs.
Funding of the Wind Farm was provided by Good Energies Investments as part of a larger investments deal which included the Western Bioenergy Project.
Andrew Lee of Good Energies Investments said, “Our partnership with Eco2 has resulted in the development of some very successful renewable energy projects across several technologies. We look forward to our continued working relationship.”
Under a management service agreement with Good Energies Eco2 managed the successful construction of the wind farm on time and in budget. Since 2011, Eco2 has been managing the operation of the project on behalf of IKEA, the new Owners of the Wind Farm.
