With the team’s vast expertise in the Biomass sector, Eco2 managed the build and currently manages the fuel logistics and administration of the award winning Western Wood Energy Plant - a 14MWe wood fired project located in Port Talbot, South Wales. Eco2 has won planning approval for a 40MWe straw-fired Biomass plant in Lincolnshire - the first in a £1billion programme to develop up to 10 straw-fired Biomass facilities across Europe.
Eco2 has also submitted a planning application for a second Biomass facility in Lincolnshire and plans one in Suffolk. These plants will generate 40MWe of power each, using proven efficient technology, specifically designed for the clean combustion of straw. All facilities will benefit from locally sourced fuel contracts.
In addition we are investigating a number of further sites suitable for Biomass projects with a view to replicating our straw-fired proposals.
In total Eco2 has 385MWe of Biomass projects in its development portfolio.
Eco2 is backing Tidal Energy Limited to develop DeltaStream - an innovative technology designed to generate electrical power from tidal stream resources.
Eco2’s first 12.25MW Wind Farm in Aberdeenshire started operating in 2007, since then a further three Wind Energy projects have been granted planning permission in Wales and Scotland. In total Eco2 has over 80MW of Wind projects throughout the UK.
Before its sale to Ventus VCT in 2008, Eco2 established a successful Landfill Gas business, having won all four sites that were tendered for. These projects are now operational, after being implemented on time and within budget, and have a total generating capacity of 10MW.
