Brigg Renewable Energy Plant

The Brigg Renewable Energy Plant is a straw-fired power station to be located on an existing brownfield site near the town of Brigg, North Lincolnshire.

The plant which was granted planning permission in October 2011, will have an installed capacity of 40MWe and will use proven, efficient technology specifically designed for the clean combustion of straw.

Socio-Economic Benefits

  • 40MW renewable energy in base load operation
  • 250,000 tonnes CO2 saved per year
  • Local straw contracts c. £6m p.a.
  • 30 jobs in operation; 50 in fuel supply
  • Ash is recycled for fertiliser
