Financial Controller
Eco2 Management Services Ltd (EMSL) are looking for a new Financial Controller.
Reporting to the Senior Financial Controller and working closely with our internal operational Asset Management team and external clients, this role leads the financial activities for several project entities and the financial controls that keep them accurate and compliant. You’ll be central to delivering the financial elements of our client Management Services Agreements and ensuring high-quality, timely reporting.

New team members typically spend up to four days per week in the office during the early weeks for onboarding and training; we’ll then agree a pattern that works for you and the team, with two days in the office as a minimum.

Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic business partner to Client Asset Managers and EMSL Site Managers; contribute to monthly project management meetings and ensure clear, professional reporting to internal leaders and clients.
- Develop and manage a team of Project Accountants: set standards, run regular 1:1s, support their personal development through a PDP, and ensure performance aligns with role expectations and the business goals.
- Drive effective time and workload management for yourself and direct reports to meet internal and client deadlines.
- Develop, embed, and evidence robust financial policies, controls, processes, procedures, and supporting systems across the Finance function; train the team and promote best practice; recommend and lead implementation of system improvements.
- Take overall accountability for periodic reporting under client contracts: review monthly/quarterly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, board packs, and other reports and statutory returns; ensure the correct accounting treatment is applied and the important information is shared.
- Oversee payments and cashflow: review forecast assumptions, ensure debt obligations are met, advise clients on cash availability for distributions, and approve bank payments in line with approval matrices.
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle: coordinate timelines, evidence assumptions, and facilitate reviews with site teams and clients.
- Manage year-end audit and tax processes: lead and direct the thorough preparation for audit, liaise with external auditors and tax advisors, and ensure timely filings.

- Professional qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) or significant experience in a similar role.
- Strong leadership within finance teams with a coaching mindset and a collaborative style.
- Proven experience of management reporting, cashflow management, budgeting/forecasting, and audit coordination in a multi-entity environment.
- Fluency with financial controls and policy frameworks; confident challenging assumptions and elevating reporting quality.
- Clear, credible communicator with clients and colleagues, able to build trust and deliver to deadlines. Past experience of working with external clients would be advantageous.
- Works with a continuous improvement mindset, and regularly reviews processes, procedures and controls with a critical eye to ensure they’re robust, efficient and effective.
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort with accounting systems (Sage experience welcome). Strong data handling and analysis skills with experience using systems to drive efficiency.
- Comfortable working across the full O365 suite, including SharePoint and Teams.
