Assistant Project Accountant

Full-time 37 hours per week

The Role:

Working closely with the internal operational Asset Management team and reporting to a Financial Controller, this role is responsible for timely and accurate preparation of the management reporting for a key company client. The role is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the day to day financial activities of the project.

Duties:

  • Complete all period end responsibilities and deliver accurate and timely periodic management accounts
  • Provide analysis of variance to budget
  • To provide/review accurate periodic balance sheet reconciliations and to ensure that all reconciling items are fully investigated and resolved on a timely basis
  • Prepare all accruals and prepayments, and post journals
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders, deal with queries and ensure they are dealt with effectively and promptly
  • Report to internal management and external clients in a clear and professional manner and participate in regular Project Management meetings
  • To maintain a system of financial controls and to report on any control issues
  • Assist with the budgeting, business planning and forecasting processes
  • Assist with management of cashflows and processing of payment runs
  • Support the production of annual Financial Statements and tax returns, liaison with auditors and;
  • Production and submission of VAT returns

Candidate:

  • Part professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with minimum 1 year experience of preparation of management accounts
  • Experience within the utility sector is desirable
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload
  • Accurate approach and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
  • Team player
  • Experience of using an accounting package, such as Sage

As well as having demonstrable experience in the above duties, equally important will be the cultural fit. Applicants must have a positive and “can do” attitude with the ability to work under limited supervision whilst being aware of the work carried out by colleagues.
